NNToday — a network of hyperlocal community newspapers

NNToday is a network of independent, hyperlocal newspapers, each devoted to a single town. We started in Marathon, New York — a village that, like most small towns, had quietly lost its local paper and with it the everyday record of municipal meetings, school sports, road closures, and the small civic news that holds a community together. Our mission is to give every town its own front page again, written for the people who actually live there.

Each town site is edited independently by a local editor; the network only shares the infrastructure — the website, newsletter, events calendar, advertising, and a regional hub where a story from one town can reach its neighbors. We report on real, current, local events and would rather publish nothing on a slow news day than fill the page with filler. We use AI as a drafting and research assistant, never as an unsupervised reporter: a human editor reviews and approves every story before it is published, and stories shared between towns are rewritten for the receiving town rather than republished word-for-word.
